Missions and Purposes of ATAJ
ATAJ Association bears the responsibilities relating to representation and consulting assigned to it by the law, as well as the double mission of, on the one hand, conducting all scientific, cultural, social and entertainment activities for the benefit of its members and, on the other hand, striving to build a good reputation for the profession and promoting translation culture in general.
According to the provisions of article 5 of its by-laws and by virtue of the aforementioned Law No.50.00, the Association shall carry out the following missions :
- To Study the issues related to the practice of the profession of the Translator Accredited to the Courts, while paying special care to the improvement of the techniques and methods particular to its exercising.
- To defend the rights of the translators accredited to the courts, as well as the supreme interests, honour, ethics, reputation and the good exercising of the profession.
- To bring an action on its behalf whenever the supreme interests of the profession, its honour or that of one of its members are threatened, and whenever the law relating to its rules and regulations is violated.
- To bear, before the minister of justice, the consulting mission given to it by the law.
- To bear the representation of the translator accredited by the courts, according to the Law No.50.00.
The association also offers its services/comes forward to achieve the following purposes :
- To organize confabs, study days, seminars, meetings and conferences of a scientific aspect for the benefit of its members and to strive in order to inform them about all technical and scientific innovations that may help them to widen their horizons, to develop their working methods in harmony with the requirements involved by the opening on the international society.
- To promote the Translator accredited by the courts at both national and international levels, as well as their language combinations, their scientific specialties and their societal role.
- To strive in order to build a central library, regional libraries specialized in the translation field and the art of translating as well as a data and information base in the subject-matter.
- To work on editing periodic, publications, magazines, and books specialized in translation and related sciences.
- To promote all actions tending to set up a program of social action and mutual insurance in order to assist the translator accredited by the courts and make of the implementation of the mutual insurance and allowance for its members and to bring to these latter and to the members of their families the necessary assistance through their integration into a group-insurance regime.
- To assist freshmen translators accredited by the courts and put at their disposal all useful information necessary for the creation of a favourable framework for their stability and for the practice of their activity within the best conditions.
- To cooperate with the universities and higher education schools as well as with national and international associations and with all operators concerned by the translation field.
